What emergency access does well

Emergency access is a genuinely useful feature. You designate a trusted contact; if you die or are incapacitated, they request access, a waiting period passes (typically days), and unless you decline the request, they can view your vault. What it doesn't do

What your successor receives from emergency access is a list of credentials — hundreds of logins with no explanation of which ones matter to your business, which clients are mid-project, which subscriptions to cancel first, or what to say to your customers. The vault also says nothing about accounts that were never in it: the client relationship that lives in your head, the SOP that lives in a notebook, the domain registered under an old email address. Access without instructions is how businesses get fumbled in the first week.

How the switch works

You check in on a schedule you set. Miss your window and the escalation is gradual: five days of reminders to you, a one-time notice to your trusted contact (worded so it reveals nothing about the packet), then release — your successor gets a one-time reveal link, valid for 30 days or a single use. Why doesn't Imok store my passwords too?
